Project Chrysalis Middle School

Founded as a small-school alternative for students in Houston’s East End, Project Chrysalis began its journey in 1995 on the Cage Elementary campus. In 2024, the school reached a major milestone, moving into its own dedicated building. Chrysalis has grown into a dynamic, high-performing middle school—now home to nearly 300 students and supported by a passionate team of educators.

Project Chrysalis Middle School is a Double National Blue Ribbon Award winner. Blue Ribbon Schools are selected based on two primary criteria. They must be among the highest-performing schools in their state and have at least 40 percent of their student body performing at high levels, despite coming from disadvantaged backgrounds. We were recognized in 2012 and in 2019.

Additionally, Project Chrysalis is a Distinguished Title I school that has all TEA distinctions. It has also been included on the Texas Business and Education Coalition’s Honor Roll, and has been recognized by Texas Monthly as one of the Best Public Schools in Texas. It was was ranked among the top schools by Children at Risk in 2018 and 2019.

Our school's faculty and staff are committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment which ensures that each student reaches a high level of academic achievement in preparation for high-performing high schools.
